It Was The Dog's Fault

Updated: Jan 20

It's common to have pet stains on your carpet if you own cats or dogs. Most have a tendency to continuously go in the same area to "mark their territory". It's a bad habit and eventually costs you new flooring. Potty training your pets couldn't be anymore crucial if your home has carpeting.

Here's a few steps to attack these accidents as soon as they happen:

  1. Remove any solids & blot the area as dry as possible before adding any cleaner.

  2. Make a small treatment mix of 1 tablespoon of salt and a couple drops of dish soap in a bowl.

  3. Use a clean towel or sponge to blot the soiled area thoroughly.

  4. Use capture or another powder solvent cleaner to sprinkle over the area.

  5. No solvent cleaner? Sprinkle baking soda on the area instead.

  6. After letting your treatment and solvent powder/baking soda sit for 15 minutes, Vacuum.

AVOID any cleaning chemicals that contain ammonia or vinegar. Stronger chemical odors may encourage your pet to reinforce the urine scent in that area. This is "marking their territory". We love having our pets around, but we have to keep a happy/healthier home for our fur-babies as well. We specialize in pet-enzyme treatments, so if you need any help neutralizing these spots, CALL US @(618)222-0200 or (618)234-2915.
